Wingate women fall 6-1 at #9 Flagler; men’s match stopped due to rain with ‘Dogs on top 3-2

Box Score St. Augustine, Fla.----The #24 Wingate University men's tennis team had a 3-2 lead at #18 Flagler Wednesday afternoon when inclement weather came into the area and forced the match to be stopped, resulting in a no-decision. The ninth-ranked Flagler women prevailed 6-1 against #13 Wingate, as the 'Dogs fall to 3-4 on the season.

DOUBLES


- Elena Gunfaus and Saga Berggren picked up a 6-3 victory at number three doubles
- Flagler won at one and two doubles to secure the point
- The Saints took a 1-0 lead into singles play

SINGLES

- Suzuka Sambyakugari picked up her second win in as many days at six singles
- She prevailed 7-6, 6-2 for the Bulldogs
- Chloe Kosmrlj won the first set 6-1 at two singles, before falling 6-2, 6-4 in the final two frames
- Alex Lopez responded after a set one loss at five singles to win set two 6-3 before losing a 10-point tiebreaker

SINGLES PLAY


- The teams began in singles play on Wednesday
- Florian Walcher won 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 at number one singles
- Edis Nokic prevailed 7-5, 6-0 at number four singles
- Gabriel Constantino picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory at five singles
- Hugo Nossler was ahead 4-2 in set two at six singles after dropping set one
- The Saints won at two and three singles
