Complete meet results

Rocky Mount, N.C.----The No. 8 Wingate University men's swimming team had five student-athletes contribute to two victories each on the way to a 169-77 triumph over Barton College inside the Harrison Family YMCA Saturday. The dual meet wraps up the regular season for the Navy Blue and Vegas Gold-clad South Atlantic Conference members.

Wingate's 200 Medley Relay quartet started the day with a victory, thanks to their triumphant time of 1:30.53. In order, team members included freshman Ney Chagas Filho, sophomore Fedor Sokolov and seniors Slava Ohnov and Marcel Snitko.

Each 200 Medley Relay team member won an individual event as well. Snitko got things started by touching first in the 200 Freestyle (1:39.03, NCAA B cut). Filho Chagas was next, winning the 100 Backstroke (50.31). Sokolov claimed the 100 Breaststroke crown (57.01), while Ohnov outdistanced the field in the 50 Freestyle (20.88).

What They Are Saying
Wingate sophomore Jack Wisniewski

"The team as a whole performed very well today in the battle of the Bulldogs. The energy level was high all around after coming off a great training trip in Florida and as the inaugural South Atlantic Conference championship meet is right around the corner. We used the excitement to give us a boost in getting our hands on the wall ahead of Barton in several close races down the stretch."

"I think the seniors in their last dual meet definitely showed leadership in their swims and in maintaining the energy level throughout the meet. We aim to carry this momentum into our last week and a half of training as we sharpen the fine details and stay laser focused heading into conference championships."

Next on the horizon for #WUSWIM

Wingate will compete in the inaugural South Atlantic Conference championship meet Feb. 8-11 inside the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in downtown Charlotte.
