#18 Wingate splits SAC doubleheader at #23 Lenoir-Rhyne

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Hickory, N.C.----The 18th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs rolled to an 11-3 victory in game one of Tuesday's South Atlantic Conference softball doubleheader at Lenoir-Rhyne University, while the Bears got a no-hitter from Morgan Beeler in game two to prevail 3-0. Wingate moves to 24-7 overall and 8-2 in the SAC, while the Bears go to 22-4 overall and 5-3 in league play.

- Kramer followed with a two-run homer to left to make it 3-0
- Back-to-back errors put two more on for the 'Dogs
- Heaven Maness scored on a Hobgood groundout to push the lead to four
- A solo shot from Lora Beth Wood in the bottom of the frame got LR on the board
- Anna Blume added an RBI single to make it 4-2

THIRD INNING

- Liles reached on a wild pitch on a strikeout to start the frame, while Hall followed with a single
- An RBI double from Thomas plated Liles to make it 5-2

FOURTH INNING

- Hobgood started the frame with a single
- She scored on a sacrifice fly from Liles to push the lead to four
- An RBI groundout from Katelyn Rackard pulled the Bears within three in the bottom of the frame

FIFTH INNING

- Maness ripped a one-out triple to center
- She scored on a groundout from Thomas to make it 7-3

SEVENTH INNING

- A hit batter, walk and Hobgood single loaded the bases
- Reeves lined a two-run double to right
- A squeeze bunt from Brooks plated Hobgood to make it 10-3
- Hall followed with an RBI single to make the final margin 11-3

WRAPUP

- Thomas got the win, moving to 2-1 on the year
- She tossed four shutout frames, allowing three hits while striking out four
- Lauren Rakes took the loss, allowing 11 runs on 10 hits in 6 2/3 innings
