Complete College Sports Communicators AAA men's swimming release

Austin, Texas----Wingate University men's swimming student-athlete Ethan Hathcock ('23, Seymour, Tenn.) is an Academic All-America® second team selection, College Sports Communicators (CSC) officials announce this week. Hathcock receives Academic All-America® laurels for the first time in his career. He is a biology and history double major with a 3.87 GPA.

The 2022-23 season is the first year men's swimming and diving has had its own Academic All-America® team. Previously, men's swimming and diving had been a part of the CSC men's at-large team until the 2022-23 season.

Hollywood movie makers could not have scripted the conclusion of Hathcock's Wingate athletic career with any more flair. In the final race of the 2023 NCAA Division II swimming championships in Indianapolis, Hathcock and three teammates finished eighth in the 400 Freestyle Relay, collecting first team All-American honors.

In addition to finding his name on the first-ever Academic All-America® team dedicated to men's swimming and diving, Hathcock participated in the inaugural South Atlantic Conference swimming championships this season. The SAC added men's and swimming to its sports docket in 2022-23.

Hathcock and three teammates earned SAC championships in the 400 and 800 Freestyle Relays as the Bulldogs won the 2023 SAC title. He was All-SAC in four events: the two relays plus the 200 and 500 Freestyle races. Hathcock posted NCAA B cuts in the 100, the 200 and the 500 Freestyle races this year.
