Palm Harbor, Fla.----The No. 9 Wingate University men's golf team is third after two rounds of the Copperhead Championship Monday. The Bulldogs shot an even-par 284 in the morning round and a two-over-par 286 in the evening session for a 36-hole total of two-over-par 570. The University of West Florida hosts this annual event at the Innisbrook Golf Resort, Copperhead Course.
 
Tournament host and NCAA No. 1 West Florida leads the Copperhead Championship with its nine-under-par 559. The Argonauts had a five-under-par 279 in the first round and a four-under-par 280 in the second stanza. No. 4 Lee is four shots back at five-under-par 563. Lee matched UWF with a 279 in the first round. Lee had an even-par 284 in the second round.
 
Wingate senior Alfie Storer leads the Bulldogs with his three-under-par 139. He had a two-under-par 69 in the first round and a one-under-par 70 in the second round. Storer is one of three players who is one shot behind 36-hole leader TJ Thompson from West Florida. Thompson is all alone in first place at four-under-par 138.
 
Senior Lewis Beeden is next on the WU charts at even-par 142, tying him for 12th place. Beeden's scorecard included rounds of 72 and 70. Senior Fynn Loewe is tied for 15th place at one-over-par 143. Loewe posted rounds of 72 and 71 Monday.

The 17 teams and 90 student-athletes in this year's Copperhead Championship will return to action Tuesday for the third and final round on the Innisbrook Golf Resort, Copperhead Course layout. The third-round shotgun start is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m.
