No. 9 Bulldogs, Skidmore lead Currahee Collegiate Invite after two rounds

Toccoa, Ga.----The No. 9 Wingate University men's golf team leads the Currahee Collegiate Invitational after two rounds Monday. The Bulldogs shot a blistering 16-under-par 560 to take a 15-stroke lead over second-place Lenoir-Rhyne. This year's CCI event is co-hosted by Anderson University and Erskine College.
 
Skidmore is tied for the lead; Four 'Dogs inside the top 15 and ties
 
Sophomore All-American Brandon Skidmore is tied for the 36-hole lead at eight-under-par 136. He had a three-under-par 69 in the morning round and a five-under-par 67 in the afternoon session. The 67 is one shot away from his collegiate-best round of 66. Emmanuel (Ga.) sophomore Lukas Lautrup-Nissen shares the top spot on the leader board with Skidmore, thanks to rounds of 71 and 65.
 
Wingate has four student-athletes in the top 15 and ties. Senior All-American Lewis Beeden is tied for fifth place at four-under-par 140. He had rounds of 69 and 71 Monday. Senior Alfie Storer is tied for eighth at three-under-par 141. He had rounds of 69 and 72. Both Beeden's and Storer's first-round 69s are season-low scores.
 
Senior Fynn Loewe is tied for 15th at one-under-par 143. He carded a 72 in the morning and a 71 in the afternoon. Sophomore Cole Rouse posted rounds of 79 and 75 Monday. Playing as an individual, sophomore Max Drott is in 21st place with his one-over-par 145. Drott had rounds of 72 and 73 Monday.
 
Taking a quick look at the leader boards
 
Eighteen of the 84 players who are competing in the Currahee Collegiate Invitational are under par entering Tuesday's third and final round. Four of those 18 student-athletes are wearing the Wingate Navy Blue and Vegas Gold. Eckerd sophomore Reggie Fear is all alone in third place at seven-under-par 137, one stroke behind Skidmore and Lautrup-Nissen.
 
Spots three through five on the team leader board are occupied by No. 13 USC Aiken (577), Erskine (578) and No. 12 Lincoln Memorial (580). Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne are the only teams under-par entering Tuesday's third and final round.
 
Up next for the No. 9 Wingate Bulldogs
 
This year's Currahee Collegiate Invitational concludes Tuesday, as the 16 teams will return to the Currahee Golf Club for the third and final round. Wingate is paired with Erskine, Lenoir-Rhyne and USC Aiken Tuesday. The shotgun start is slated for 9 a.m.
