No. 5 Bulldogs conclude semester with Patriot Fall Classic this week

Wingate, N.C.----The No. 5 Wingate University men's golf team concludes its semester with the Patriot Fall Classic Monday and Tuesday. Lander University hosts this event at the Patriot Golf Course at Grand Harbor in Ninety Six, South Carolina.
 
Wingate is No. 5 in the first NCAA Division II Scoreboard powered by Clippd power rankings for the 2025-26 season. The Bulldogs' No. 5 status is the highest ranking in the school's NCAA history. Wingate advanced to the NCAA Division II semi-finals for the first time in 2025.

Wingate's Skidmore earns SAC Golfer of the Week honors
 
Wingate sophomore All-American Brandon Skidmore is the South Atlantic Conference Golfer of the Week, league officials announced Wednesday. He won his first career individual title in a playoff at the AU/Erskine Currahee Invitational October 6-7. Skidmore won the medalist playoff on the par-three 17th hole after finishing 54 holes at 12-under-par 204.
 
Thanks to the efforts of Skidmore and his teammates, Wingate won the AU/Erskine Currahee Invitational by 23 shots over second-place USC Aiken. Skidmore averaged 70 strokes per round during the two-event reporting cycle, which include the Currahee Invitational and the Copperhead Championship.
 
Bulldogs finish fourth in Copperhead Championship
 
Wingate finished fourth in the Copperhead Championship Tuesday. The Bulldogs shot a 54-hole total of nine-over-par 861. The University of West Florida hosted this event at the Innisbrook Golf Resort, Copperhead Course. Senior All-American Lewis Beeden tied for seventh place to lead the Bulldogs. Beeden completed 54 holes at even-par 213.
