No. 9 Bulldogs compete in Currahee Collegiate Invitational this week

Wingate, N.C.----The No. 9 Wingate University men's golf team visits Toccoa, Georgia for the third year in a row to play in the Currahee Collegiate Invitational Monday and Tuesday. Co-hosted by Anderson University and Erskine College, the 54-hole event takes place Monday and Tuesday at the Currahee Golf Club.
 
The Currahee Collegiate Invitational begins a stretch of three tournaments in three weeks for the 2025 NCAA Division II semi-finalists. The Bulldogs will play in the University of West Florida's Copperhead Classic and Lander University's Patriot Fall Classic in back-to-back weeks to conclude their fall campaign.

Looking back at Wingate's first two 2025-26 tournaments
 
The No. 9 Wingate men's golf team finished sixth in the fourth annual Mizuno Intercollegiate September 15-16. The South Atlantic Conference member Bulldogs shot an even-par 288 in the third round to finish 54 holes at two-over-par 866. Senior All-American Lewis Beeden shot three consecutive rounds of one-under-par 71 to finish tied for seventh with his three-under-par 213.
 
The Bulldogs finished fifth in the Hurricane Invitational September 22-23. Wingate shot a final-round 295 to complete three sessions at 10-over-par 874. Senior Alfie Storer posted a three-under-par 69 in the final round, completing 54 holes at one-over-par 217 to finish tied for 12th place. Storer was the model of consistency, posting 15 pars and three birdies in the third round.

There are four top 25 teams from the September 19 Bushnell/Golfweek Division II top 25 coaches' poll playing in the Currahee Collegiate Invitational. Lander leads the way at No. 6, while Wingate follows at No. 9. Lincoln Memorial and USC Aiken complete the quartet at No. 12 and No. 13, respectively. Two schools in the CCI field are receiving votes: Lenoir-Rhyne and co-host Anderson.

No. 9 Wingate will get the Currahee Collegiate Invitational started Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. Wingate is paired with Lander, Lincoln Memorial and USC Aiken.
