Monroe, N.C.----The No. 12 Wingate University men's golf team won its third event in a row, fourth of the spring and fifth of the year, taking the title in the 25th annual Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate tournament at Rolling Hills Country Club Tuesday. Graduate student
Jordan Hyland led the home-standing Bulldogs, tying for second place at seven-under-par 209.

The Bulldogs shot their second consecutive nine-under-par 279 in today's final round, finishing with a come-from-behind, three-stroke victory over No. 15 USC Beaufort. Wingate had seven student-athletes in the top 20 (and ties). Each of the team's lucky seven completed 54 holes under par.

Wingate shot an 18-under-par 846 for 54 holes, while the USC Beaufort Sand Sharks posted a 15-under-par 849. Two-time defending Hargett Memorial champion and current No. 5 Grand Valley State finished third with a 12-under-par 852. Lenoir-Rhyne was fourth at 10-under-par 854. Sixteen teams and 92 players competed in this year's event.

For the first time in Wingate's modern-day history, the men's golf program has won three consecutive tournaments. The Bulldogs' back-to-back-to-back victories include the Spring Bulldog Clash, the Bearcat Classic and the Hargett Memorial. Wingate's 2024-25 unit matches the 2011-12 team with its five triumphs to date.

Next up for No. 12 Wingate

Wingate takes a trip to the mountains Saturday, as the Bulldogs will play in Lincoln Memorial University's Tennessee River Rumble Monday and Tuesday. The LMU Railsplitters host this annual event at the WindRiver Golf Club in Lenoir City, Tennessee. Last year, Wingate battled a tough course and challenging weather conditions to finish fourth.

The Tennessee River Rumble concludes Wingate's regular season. The Bulldogs will join 12 teams for the South Atlantic Conference championship tournament in mid-April. Wingate's postseason lid lifter will take place on the Preserve at Verdae layout in Greenville, South Carolina.
