Lenoir City, Tenn.----The No. 12 Wingate University men's golf team finished in fifth place in the Tennessee River Rumble, hosted by Lincoln Memorial University on the WindRiver Golf Club layout. The Bulldogs finished at 16-over-par for the 54-hole event, 10 strokes behind the champions from No. 4 LMU. Graduate student

Brandon Skidmore led the team, both finishing tied for 19th place at four-over-par 220.

During Tuesday's play, the field completed the end of round two which was halted for darkness Monday evening. At the conclusion of round two, Wingate was sitting in second place at two-under-par. The Bulldogs and the field went straight into round three to close out the tournament Tuesday afternoon.

On the horizon for No. 12 Wingate
Â
The conclusion of the LMU event brings a well-earned break from tournament play to allow for practice and fine tuning before the team's next start, the South Atlantic Conference championship tournament April 13-15. The three-round, three-day event will take place inside The Preserve at Verdae in Greenville, South Carolina. The No. 12 Bulldogs will try to win the SAC championship event for the first time since 2012.
