Atlanta, Ga.----The nationally-ranked Wingate University men's and women's swimming teams competed in the Emory Last Chance Invitational Friday and Saturday. The Emory University Eagles hosted this event at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center on the school's campus.

The Bulldog teams combined to post 21 NCAA Division II B cuts. In addition to Wingate and Emory, five schools sent student-athletes to the meet. They include Berry (Ga.), Carson-Newman, Catawba, Colorado College, Mars Hill and Rhodes (Tenn.). The Emory Last Chance Invite was the Bulldogs' final tune-up prior to the NCAA national championship meet in March.

What They Are Saying
Wingate head coach Kevin Hennessy

"We had a great meet at Emory over the weekend…one of our best in the last few years. The group that went brought all the energy they needed as we were able to get a couple more swimmers qualified for NCAAs, along with posting new season and personal best times. We will know for sure when the official invite lists go out on Wednesday. These types of competitions are always a challenge especially after a championship meet. Being able to mentally and emotionally reset is always tough. Coach Ben (Evans) and Coach Gabriel (da Costa) did a great job getting them fired up and ready to race. Racing is Racing…now on to NCAAs!"
