Kingsport, Tenn.----
The nationally-ranked Wingate University men's and women's swimming teams are participating in the South Atlantic Conference championship meet at the Kingsport Aquatic Center this week. Preliminaries begin each morning at 10 a.m. Finals will start at 5 p.m.
 
Wingate's Friday AM highlights
 
Event 17
Women's 500 Freestyle
 
Wingate will have four student-athletes swimming in Friday evening's championship final, led by team captain Nina Azirovic. She posted a Friday AM time of 5:06.36.
 
Event 18
Men's 500 Freestyle
 
The Bulldog men will have four swimmers in the championship final. Leading the way for Wingate is Fernando Dehaudt. He swam the fastest time in the morning preliminaries with his 4:26.47 posting.
 
Event 19
Women's 100 Backstroke

Three Bulldogs will swim in Friday evening's championship final, led by Vera Karlsson and Elizabete Paula Ozola. The dynamic duo had the top two Friday AM qualifying times (55.83 and 56.76).
 
Event 20
Men's 100 Backstroke
 
Team captain Ney Chagas Filho leads three Bulldogs into Friday night's 100 Backstroke championship final. The two-time Academic All-America performer swam a 49.57 in the morning session.
 
Event 21
Women's 100 Breaststroke
 
Four Bulldogs will compete in Friday night's championship final. Natalia Dwojak posted the fastest morning time with her 1:01.82 clocking.
 
Event 22
Men's 100 Breaststroke
 
Italian newcomers Filippo Tabladini (54.51) and Nicolo Cariboni (55.05) swam Wingate's fastest qualifying times. Artur Vilela de Queiroz also qualified for the championship final.
 
Event 23
Women's 200 Butterfly
 
Giulianna Garcia leads three Wingate student-athletes into Friday night's championship final. Garcia swam a 2:06.99 in the Friday morning session.
 
Event 24
Men's 200 Butterfly
 
Team captain Mike Topchanalis is one of three WU student-athletes who will vie for the 200 Fly championship Friday. Teammate Andreas Carrascal had Wingate's top qualifying time of 1:49.72.
 
Event 25 and Event 26
Women's and Men's 200 Freestyle Relay
 
The 200 Freestyle Relay for both women and men conclude Friday night's agenda.
