No. 6 Bulldogs start second semester with Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate this week

Wingate, N.C.----The No. 6 Wingate University men's golf team opens second semester with the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday. Lincoln Memorial hosts this event at the St. Johns Golf & Country Club in St. Augustine, Florida.
 
Wingate is No. 6 in the most recent NCAA Division II Scoreboard powered by Clippd power rankings for the 2025-26 season. Last semester, the Bulldogs' No. 5 status was the highest ranking in the school's NCAA history. Wingate advanced to the NCAA Division II semi-finals for the first time in 2025.

Wingate wins Patriot Fall Classic by 17 shots; Storer earns medalist honors
 
In its last fall outing, the Wingate men's golf team led wire-to-wire, taking home the Patriot Fall Classic team and individual hardware on October 21. The Bulldogs finished 54 holes with a 30-under-par 834, a whopping 17 strokes better than host Lander. The LU Bearcats hosted this event at the Patriot Golf Course at Grand Harbor.
 
Wingate wrapped up an impressive second round with a 16-under-par 272 on October 21. The season-low round gave the Bulldogs a 16-stroke advantage over Lander and Saint Leo entering the third and final round. The '25 NCAA semi-finalists shot a three-under-par 285 in the third round to complete their program-record, 30-under-par total.
 
Storer wins Patriot Fall Classic medalist playoff for first career individual title
 
Seniors Alfie Storer and Lewis Beeden completed three rounds tied at 11-under-par 205, a career-low, 54-hole score for both Bulldogs. Storer prevailed on the second playoff hole to collect his first collegiate medalist crown. Storer's scorecard included rounds of 68, 67 and 70, while Beeden posted rounds of 67, 66 and 72.
 
Storer birdied his last two holes to reach the playoff, while Beeden birdied the 18th hole to tie his teammate. Storer's second-round, five-under-par 67 matches his career-low, 18-hole score. Lander freshman Filip Yngfalk finished one shot behind Wingate's dynamic duo at 10-under-par 206.

No. 6 Wingate will get the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate started Monday morning at 8 a.m. Wingate is paired with host LMU, North Georgia and Georgia Southwestern State.
