Wingate begins NCAAs with 800 Freestyle Relay first team All-American swims Tuesday

Evansville, Ind.----The Wingate University men's and women's swimming teams collected first team All-American honors in the 800 Freestyle Relay during the NCAA Division II national championships Tuesday night. This year's event is being contested inside the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Indiana.
 
Men's 800 Freestyle Relay
 
In the men's 800 Freestyle Relay, the Bulldogs set a new school standard with their sixth-place time of 6:23.57. Team members included sophomores Yassine Sebbata and Tymofii Chemeryk, graduate student team captain Joel Thompson and junior Anton Witzell. The Tampa Spartans won the event with a new NCAA meet record time of 6:16.64.
 
Women's 800 Freestyle Relay
 
In the women's 800 Freestyle Relay, Wingate finished eighth with its time of 7:21.11. Team members included senior team captain Nina Azirovic, sophomore Elizabete Paula Ozola, freshman Nisa Gul Serdar and senior Giulianna Garcia. Nova Southeastern won the race with its time of 7:08.52.
