Wingate, N.C.----The No. 1 Wingate University women's golf team hosts the Jerry Surratt Memorial Intercollegiate this week at the Stonebridge Golf Club in Monroe. The 18 competing teams will play 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday. The Bulldogs have two team wins and three individual victories from their first three outings this spring season, while maintaining the number one spot in the NCAA D2 national rankings.

Another strong tournament field
Â
The tournament field is strong once again with seven of the top nine NCAA Division II schools represented. In addition to No. 1 Wingate, No. 2 Dallas Baptist, No. 3 Anderson, No. 4 Findlay, No. 5 Grand Valley State, No. 7 North Georgia and No. 9 Lander are competing. All total, 12 ranked teams are competing in this year's event.

In last year's Surratt Memorial, the Bulldogs earned a double triumph with the team and individual medalist honors with their one-shot victory over Anderson.

The Bulldogs competed two weeks ago in the Lady Moc Classic at the
Grasslands Golf and Country Club in Lakeland, Florida. Sophomore
Amely Bochaton won her 10th career title, taking the individual crown. Bochaton finished 54 holes at three-under-par 213, six shots better than Tampa senior
Ruth Toennessen.

On the team charts, the No. 1 Bulldogs finished second to No. 17 Barry. Wingate had an eight-over-par 296 in the third round to complete 54 holes at 905. The Barry Buccaneers had a five-over-par 293 to finish three rounds at 896.
