Salisbury, N.C.----The fifth-seeded and 18th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs knocked off fourth-seeded and 15th-ranked North Georgia 4-3 Monday afternoon in the opening round of the NCAA Division II men's tennis Southeast Regional. Wingate improves to 16-7 overall, while the Nighthawks fall to 13-9 on the season. The Bulldogs will face top-seeded Catawba in the regional semis Tuesday at noon.

DOUBLES

- Carlo Rosellini teamed with Rodrigo de la Torre for a 6-2 win at one doubles
- Francesco Gatti and Emil Remsted prevailed 6-4 at three doubles
- The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead into singles play

SINGLES

- Rosellini won 6-3, 6-4 at one singles
- Remsted rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 victory at four singles to give Wingate a 3-0 lead
- North Georgia picked up wins at two, three and five singles to tie it at three
- Jashan Joachim won the clincher at six singles
- He rallied for a 5-7, 7-5. 6-2 victory to give the 'Dogs the victory
