No. 4 Wingate falls in national championship match after historic postseason run

Boulder City, Nevada----The No. 4 Wingate University men's golf team concluded one of the greatest seasons in program history Friday afternoon, finishing as national runner-up at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship after falling to No. 2 Florida Southern 3-2 in the national title match at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
 
The Bulldogs battled throughout the afternoon against one of the nation's top teams after advancing with quarterfinal and semifinal victories Thursday. Wingate's remarkable postseason run included a SAC Championship title, a trip through the NCAA South/Southeast Regional and a runner-up finish on the national stage.
 
The Bulldogs continued to showcase the depth that carried them all season, highlighted by standout performances from seniors Lewis Beeden and Alfie Storer.

As a senior, it means a lot to be part of the Wingate team that has gone further than any team in program history. This being my final tournament for Wingate makes it even more special.
