Four Bulldogs earn PING All-America honors

Norman, Okla.----The national recognition continues for the Wingate University men's golf program, as four Bulldogs earned NCAA Division II PING All-America honors following the conclusion of the 2026 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship.
 
Senior Lewis Beeden earned first team All-America recognition, while sophomore Brandon Skidmore was named a second team All-America. Freshman Mattia D'Errico and senior Alfie Storer rounded out the quartet for the Bulldogs, claiming honorable mention All-America accolades.
 
The four selections cap a historic season for the Bulldogs, who captured five tournament victories, recorded six top-three finishes and posted a program-record 281.9 scoring average. Wingate qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championship and medal match play for the third straight season, advancing all the way to the national championship match in 2026.
 
Beeden earns first team All-America honors
 
Beeden added another prestigious accolade to one of the finest seasons in program history. His first team All-America selection places him among the elite golfers in NCAA Division II.
 
The London, England native spent much of the season ranked No. 2 nationally and No. 1 in the Southeast Region. He finished the year with a 69.5 adjusted scoring average across 44 rounds while collecting two victories and three top-three finishes.
 
Beeden played a pivotal role in Wingate's postseason success, helping the Bulldogs claim the NCAA South/Southeast Regional championship and earn a place in the NCAA Championship medal match play bracket. At the national championship, he fired rounds of 73, 72, 67 and 68 to finish tied for ninth individually.
 
During medal match play, Beeden continued to shine. He won his quarterfinal match against Columbus State 3-up after shooting five-under-par with six birdies. He followed with a 2-up victory over Missouri-St. Louis in the national semifinals. Beeden then delivered another outstanding performance in the national championship match against Florida Southern, recording six birdies and an eagle to secure a 4-up victory.
 
Skidmore claims second team All-America recognition
 
After earning PING second team All-America honors as a freshman in 2025, Skidmore repeated the feat with another outstanding campaign. The Gloucester, England native finished the season ranked No. 22 nationally and No. 8 in the Southeast Region. He posted a 70.6 adjusted scoring average across 38 rounds while recording one victory and one top-three finish.
 
Skidmore delivered numerous clutch performances throughout the season, including a tie for first place at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional to help send Wingate to nationals.
 
At the NCAA Championship, Skidmore was one of Wingate's top performers. He finished tied for sixth individually at nine-under-par after firing a final-round 66 that included five birdies and an eagle. In medal match play, he earned a 2-up victory in the quarterfinals against Columbus State and followed with a 3-up victory over UMSL in the national semifinals. Skidmore narrowly fell 1-down in the national championship match despite carding five birdies.
 
D'Errico earns honorable mention All-America honors
 
D'Errico enjoyed a breakthrough freshman season with the Bulldogs, earning honorable mention All-America recognition. The Reggio Emilia, Italy native finished the year ranked No. 38 nationally and No. 14 in the Southeast Region while posting a 71.1 adjusted scoring average across 26 rounds.
 
D'Errico saved some of his best golf for the postseason. During stroke play at the NCAA Championship, he finished tied for eighth individually at eight-under-par, highlighted by a third-round 66 featuring seven birdies. He also led the championship field in par-five scoring during stroke play, finishing 13-under-par on the par fives.
 
In medal match play, D'Errico secured a pivotal 1-up victory in Wingate's quarterfinal win over Columbus State before adding a 3-up victory in the national semifinals against Missouri-St. Louis. He once again battled one of the nation's top players during the national championship match.
 
His honorable mention selection highlights an impressive freshman season and establishes him as one of the rising stars in Division II golf.
 
Storer receives honorable mention All-America laurels
 
Storer capped an outstanding senior campaign by earning honorable mention All-America recognition. His honorable mention All-America selection caps a remarkable final WU season and further highlights the significant accomplishments for Wingate men's golf.
 
The Leeds, England native finished the season ranked No. 35 nationally and No. 13 in the Southeast Region, posting a 71.0 adjusted scoring average across 38 rounds. He recorded one victory and one top-three finish while playing a key role in Wingate's run to the NCAA Championship match.
 
Throughout the season, Storer consistently provided scoring depth for the Bulldogs, helping Wingate capture five tournament victories and the NCAA South/Southeast Regional championship.
 
At the NCAA National Championship, Storer delivered several important rounds during stroke play, including a third-round 70 featuring six birdies. He also earned a crucial 2-up victory in the national quarterfinals against Columbus State before following with a 2-up victory in the national championship match against Florida Southern.
 
National recognition for a national contender
 
The four All-America selections further validate the most successful season in Wingate men's golf history. With a first team All-America, a second team All-America and two honorable mention All-Americans, the Bulldogs once again established themselves among the nation's elite programs.
 
Combine the aforementioned individual honors with an NCAA South/Southeast Regional championship, a trip to the NCAA Division II National Championship match and a program-record 281.9 scoring average, Wingate's 2025-26 campaign will be remembered as the finest season in the program's NCAA history.
 
Under the leadership of Southeast Region Coach of the Year JD Lamm, the Bulldogs captured five tournament victories, recorded six top-three finishes and advanced to the NCAA National Championship match for the first time in program history. The All-America honors earned by Beeden, Skidmore, D'Errico and Storer serve as another reflection of a season that established Wingate among the premier programs in NCAA Division II men's golf.
