Redshirt sophomore middle blcoker Anna Hilton helped lead the 19th-ranked Bulldogs to a pair of conference road wins over the weekend. Wingate won 3-1 at Carson-Newman Friday night, followed by a 3-1 victory at Lincoln Memorial Saturday. The two wins push Wingate’s SAC winning streak to 66 matches. The ‘Dogs have not dropped a league match since the 2006 season. The Bulldogs have also won 29 consecutive regular season contests, dating back to early in the 2010 season. Wingate is 137-8 overall since the start of the 2007 season, good for a nation’s-best .945 winning percentage.
Hilton did a little bit of everything on the week, averaging 4.12 kills per set, while hitting .311. She added 3.00 digs, 1.12 assists and 0.75 blocks per set. Hilton had 16 kills, 14 digs and three blocks at Carson-Newman, hitting .364. She followed by tying a career high with 17 kills against LMU, adding 10 digs and a career-best eight assists. Hilton also had three blocks at LMU.
A 2010 All-SAC freshman selection, Hilton leads the Bulldogs with 3.50 kills per set this season, while hitting .290. She also leads the team with 18 blocks, while ranking fourth with 2.35 digs per set. Hilton finished third in the SAC in 2010 with a .327 hitting percentage.
