Rising senior right-hander Stephen Vaughan (Wilmington, N.C.) allowed just one run in seven innings of work Monday night for the Ballantyne Smokies. He struck out seven without walking a batter in seven innings of work without walking a batter, allowing just six hits to improve to 6-0 on the season. 

Vaughan has won all six of his starts for the Smokies this summer, posting an ERA of 1.82 in 29 2/3 innings of work. He has 27 strikeouts and just seven walks on the season, while surrendering just 23 hits. Vaughan has not allowed more than six hits in any of his six starts this year and has never allowed more than two earned runs to score. He has given up three or less hits in half of his starts, while allowing zero or one run in four of the six appearances. 

Vaughan leads the league with his six wins, ranking second in innings pitched, fourth in strikeouts and fifth in ERA.
