Wingate University senior guard Janitsha Williams (Statesville, N.C.) averaged 16 points per game and six rebounds per game as the Bulldogs won two games last week. She had 19 points and six rebounds, leading the Bulldogs to a 65-53 NCAA Division II Southeast Region victory over Belmont Abbey Saturday. Williams posted 13 points and six rebounds as Wingate earned a 61-51 league victory over Lenoir-Rhyne Tuesday.
 
Williams was named the South Atlantic Conference women’s basketball Player of the Week Monday. This is the first career SAC Player of the Week award for the Statesville High School product. A 2013 All-SAC selection, Williams shot 50 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the foul line last week. Williams leads Wingate with 17.2 points per game. She is second on the Bulldog charts with 7.8 rebounds per game.
