All-SAC and All-Region senior Alyssa Johnson (San Jose, Calif.) was the top finisher for the Bulldogs Saturday, leading Wingate to the Division II title at the Winthrop Invitational.
A first team Academic All-America selection in 2016, Johnson finished third with a time of 19:03.4. She was one of six Bulldogs to finish in the top 10 on Saturday, as the 'Dogs rolled to the team title. Johnson and the Bulldogs have won each of the last three SAC titles, earning three consecutive trips to the NCAA championships.
Wingate is home this weekend, hosting the annual Bulldog Stampede Saturday morning. The women's race gets started at 9 a.m. while the men's race is slated for a 9:45 a.m. start.
