Wingate University track and field junior student-athlete Nate Patterson (Mauldin, S.C.) earned SAC Athlete of the Week honors on Monday for the first time this season and the second time in his career. 
 
Patterson won the triple jump at High Point's VertKlasse Meeting with a season-best mark of 15.37 meters Saturday. This leap is top SAC triple jump performance so far this season and the number four mark in the NCAA Division II.
 
In addition, Patterson was second in the VertKlasse Meeting long jump with a season-best leap of 7.01 meters. This mark is the sixth-best showing in the SAC so far this season. During the indoor season, Patterson was an All-Southeast Region pick in the men's triple jump.
