Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University women's golf team had an evening filled with building new relationships Friday, Oct. 16 at the WU Campus Lake. Five Bulldog alumni were able to join the current team members for dinner prior to the SAC Preview tournament. Shannon Smith Scott, Brittany Staton, Martina Moo Young, Audrey Morgan Ridenhour and Morgan Pegram came back to campus to participate in the inaugural Alumni Dinner.

"It was great to see the support previous Wingate golfers had for our team," Wingate junior Megan Taylor (Buckden, Cambridgeshire, England) says. "Many of our alumni who attended the cookout had graduated long before we were on the team, so it was good to see that the connection with Wingate Golf is something which will last beyond our college years."

"It is important for our current players and myself to know who laid the groundwork for where we are as a program," Wingate graduate assistant women's golf coach Erin Thorne says. "The other neat thing is that they were playing around the same time that I was and hearing their stories made me think about my teammates."

Additional gatherings for current and alumni Bulldogs will be announced in order to continue the great laughter shared at the University's Campus Lake last week. "Friday night was the perfect way to relax us going into our home tournament," Taylor says. "For us to see our alumni out on the golf course gave us that extra bit of motivation to do our team proud and win the (SAC Preview tournament hardware."
