#45 Bulldogs overcome 4-1 deficit at Anderson to push SAC win streak to 52

Anderson, S.C.----The 45th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs won the last four singles matches Tuesday afternoon, erasing a 4-1 deficit to prevail 5-4 at Anderson University in South Atlantic Conference women's tennis action. The Bulldogs win their 52nd straight SAC match, improving to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in league play. The Trojans fall to 9-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Anderson took a 2-1 lead in doubles play, picking up victories at number one and number three doubles. Senior Andrea Ternera (Bogota, Colombia) and sophomore Sydney Homan (Huntsville, Ala.) rolled to an 8-0 victory at number two doubles for the Bulldogs.

Anderson picked up victories at one and two singles to take a 4-1 lead. Junior Oroma Womeodu (Memphis, Tenn.) won 6-3, 6-4 at three singles, while Homan's 6-4, 6-3 victory at number five singles made it 4-3. Senior Layla Tanik (Raleigh, N.C.) tied the match 4-4 with a 6-4, 6-3 win at number four singles. Freshman Marisa Ostoja (Split, Croatia) won the clincher at six singles, prevailing 6-2, 6-2 to secure the Wingate victory.

The Bulldogs are back in action Wednesday, traveling to Augusta to take on the Jaguars at 12 p.m.
