Charlotte, N.C.----The University of Indianapolis took two men's swimming victories over Wingate University and Queens University of Charlotte in a double-dual meet Saturday at the Levine Center. UIndy defeated Wingate 183-79 and Queens 148-114 (
complete results). The host Royals defeated the WU Bulldogs 169.5-92.5.
Â
The three teams are nationally-ranked in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America/TYR NCAA Division II top 25 preseason poll. Defending national champion Queens is number one, while UIndy and Wingate are sixth and 14th, respectively. In last year's NCAA meet, the Greyhounds were third and the Bulldogs seventh on the final team leader board.
Â
"This is one of the better season-opening meets for our men," Wingate head men's swimming coach
Kirk Sanocki says. "Our first seven weeks of work resulted in nice races from top to bottom. We are looking forward to our future competitions to build upon our racing from today. Any time you have six months in between your last competition and start with the defending NCAA Division II national champions, as well as the third-place team from last year's NCAAs, you know you are in for great competition."
