#24 Bulldogs take down UNCP and Belmont Abbey in Tuesday tri-match

Wingate, N.C.----The 24th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs picked up two more victories Tuesday in Cuddy Arena, prevailing 3-1 over UNC Pembroke and 3-0 over Belmont Abbey in NCAA Division II volleyball action in Cuddy Arena. Wingate won the opener 20-25, 25-16, 25-8 and 25-12, while prevailing 25-20, 25-19 and 27-25 over Belmont Abbey in the nightcap to move to 12-0 on the season.

KEY BULLDOGS


- Sophie Schaff had 12 kills, six blocks and three aces, hitting .375
- Reese Blackley added 11 kills and four digs
- Rachel Alles contributed nine kills, 25 assists, 15 digs and three blocks
- Molly Lambillotte had eight kills and 11 digs, hitting .316
- Lynnlee Mather had seven kills in 10 swings, hitting .600 on the match
- Shannon Kasprak handed out 23 assists while adding nine digs

- Two Abernathy kills, along with kills from Mather and Lambillotte made it 23-11

- The Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-3 advantage in set three
- Alles had a kill and an ace in the spurt, while Schaff and Lambillotte each added two kills and two aces
- Blackley had four kills in a 7-0 run that made it 22-7
- An Alles kill made it 23-8; back-to-back UNCP errors ended the frame

- Blackley had three early kills and a block as Wingate took a 14-5 lead
- Kills from Blackley and Lexie Pryd, followed by a Kasprak ace made it 18-8
- The 'Dogs used a 5-0 run, getting a kill and a block from Schaff to take a 23-10 advantage
- A Hanna Knaley kill made it 24-12; Emma Ahrens ended the match with a kill

- Wingate hit .277 with 58 kills and 17 errors
- UNCP hit .075 with 35 kills and 25 errors
- The Braves hit .355 in set one, but hit -.194 in the third frame and -.100 in the fourth (eight kills, 18 errors)

- Bonito's kill tied it at 24, but Blackley's kill put the 'Dogs back on top
- Bonito again had the answer to tie it at 25, but Warren's kill gave Wingate a 26-25 lead
- Warren ended the match with another kill

- Wingate hit .195 with 46 kills and 20 errors
- Belmont Abbey had 34 kills and 19 errors, hitting .128
- WU had eight blocks compared to BAC's six rejections
- The 'Dogs registered six of the 10 aces on the night
- Wingate picked up three more digs than Belmont Abbey (59-56)
