Final Results

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs scored 77 points in the team event Saturday evening, taking down King University 227.205-165.225 in Acrobatics & Tumbling action in Cuddy Arena. The event was the first in school history for Wingate.

The event started with four heats of Compulsory, with the 'Dogs scoring a 9.1 in the Pyramid event and 8.7 in the Toss. A 7.75 in heat two of the Acro section led the way for Wingate. The Bulldogs picked up another 9.1 score in heat two of Pyramid, adding an 8.85 in heat three.

The 'Dogs scored an 8.0 or higher in all three heats of the Toss events, highlighted by an 8.55 in heat one. Wingate hit the 8.0 mark in four of the six Tumbling events, led by an 8.325 in heat five.

The meet came down to the final heat, the team event. With King unable to field a full team in the event, the Bulldogs piled up 77.030 points to run past the Tornado and pick up the victory in the inaugural event.

Wingate is back in action Friday, traveling to Mars Hill for a 6 p.m. start.
