Lenoir City, Tenn.----The Wingate University men's golf team concludes its 2023-24 regular season in the Tennessee River Rumble Monday and Tuesday. Hosted by South Atlantic Conference foe Lincoln Memorial University, the 54-hole event will take place at the WindRiver Golf Club.

Bulldogs will see one of the strongest fields in D2 golf

The Tennessee River Rumble features one of the strongest fields in NCAA Division II golf with the top four teams in the Bushnell/Golfweek NCAA Division II Coaches' Poll competing. No. 1 North Georgia, No. 2 Lincoln Memorial, No. 3 Georgia Southwestern and No. 4 Grand Valley State will be present, along with No. 7 USC Aiken and No. 10 Lander.

Five of the six teams listed above compete in Wingate's region, along with No. 16 Barton and No. 23 Coker. The South Atlantic Conference will have nine of its 13 teams in the field. SAC schools Lenoir-Rhyne, Carson-Newman, Tusculum and Wingate are receiving votes in this week's D2 coaches' poll, along with the aforementioned LMU Railsplitters and Coker Cobras.

Momentum is crucial for Wingate

The 'Dogs have momentum on their side with back-to-back top five team finishes, including a third-place showing in their home tournament last week. The placement in the Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate gave the Navy Blue and Vegas Gold-clad linksters a boost in the regional rankings, as the Bulldogs moved from No. 11 to number nine.

Graduate student
Jordan Hyland tied for fifth place in the Hargett Memorial at Rolling Hills Country Club, thanks to his one-under-par 215. The Davis & Elkins transfer has had a strong start to his first Wingate spring season with four consecutive top-20 finishes. Hyland hopes to continue his streak this week in Tennessee.
