Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University indoor track and field teams spent the month of December competing against top competition in Massachusetts, Indiana and North Carolina. The defending South Atlantic Conference champions are busy preparing for league and national championship events in early March with a full schedule in late January and February.

What They Are Saying
Wingate director of cross country and track and field Matt van Lierop

"Our plan for the competitions in December…has always been to utilize the hard work our Bulldogs have put in for the three months during the fall semester, whether from the XC season or the conditioning and early practice phases of the track and field squads. By the time we get to December, the majority of the team is ready to show the South Atlantic Conference and the NCAA what they've got."

"The team was fit, and proved that fitness at these four meets, with numerous school records and NCAA qualifying marks, plus countless SAC marks achieved far before those championship events. We accomplished what we set out to do, and cannot wait to show what else is in our arsenal over the next two months."
