Megan Millard has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon. Millard earns Player of the Week accolades for the second time this season.
Millard played a key role in #16 Wingate's 16-13 victory at Limestone Saturday, as the Bulldogs clinched their third straight regular season SAC title. The 'Dogs have now won 12 straight on the year, moving to 15-1 overall. Wingate is 29-1 in league play over the last three years.
Millard scored six goals on seven shots Saturday afternoon, adding three draw controls on the day. She scored the first goal of the day for Wingate, then added five goals in the 15-4 run as the Bulldogs turned a 6-1 deficit into a 16-10 lead.
Millard leads the Bulldogs with 50 goals and 59 points this season, adding 50 draw controls, 23 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers. She has played a key role in Wingate leading the nation in caused turnovers while ranking third in assists per game, fifth in draw control percentage and sixth in points per game.
Wingate is back in action Wednesday, hosting Coker at 7 p.m. in the regular season finale. The Bulldogs will host a SAC Tournament semifinal contest next Wednesday, April 30 at Irwin Belk Stadium.
