Hickory, N.C.----The defending champion Wingate University outdoor track and field teams look to defend their titles this week, as the Bulldogs journey to the Irwin Belk Track at the Moretz Sports Athletic Campus for the 2025 South Atlantic Conference outdoor championship meet Wednesday and Thursday. Both Wingate teams claimed the top spot in the 2024 SAC outdoor event contested inside the same venue.
 
The Bulldog men's outdoor track and field team is ranked No. 3 in the latest edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II ratings index. The Wingate men and women are No. 1 in their respective Southeast Region listings.
  
Defending individual champions
 
Wingate welcomes back six '24 SAC outdoor individual champions. They include:
 
Titouan Le Grix (men's 1500 meters)
Levente Palvolgyi (men's 800 meters)
 
Sira Bo (women's 3000 meter steeplechase)
Assiya ElHafyan (women's high jump)
Kyarra Newton (women's heptathlon)
Judith Vaquero (women's discus throw)
