Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University senior Fernanda Castillo has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference women's tennis Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon.

Castillo helped lead the Bulldogs to a 3-0 week, picking up three SAC wins including a pair of ranked wins on the road. The 'Dogs won 4-2 at #13 Newberry, while also picking up a 4-2 victory at #30 Anderson. Wingate added a 4-0 home victory against Emory & Henry.

Castillo went 2-0 at #3 singles and 1-0 at #2 doubles on the week. She won 6-3, 6-4 at three singles at Anderson, adding a 6-3 doubles victory. She also notched a big 6-3, 6-0 win in the victory at Newberry.

Castillo is 7-2 in singles play this season, while adding a 3-3 mark in doubles play.

The Bulldogs are back in action Friday, traveling to UVA Wise for a 1 p.m. match. The 'Dogs are at Carson-Newman Saturday at 1 p.m.
