No. 1 Bulldogs set to defend title at 2026 SAC Women’s Golf championship

Greenville, S.C.----The top-ranked Wingate University women's golf team looks to conquer Greenville this week, hoping to defend its title at the 2026 South Atlantic Conference women's golf championship. The event is hosted at The Preserve at Verdae from April 12-14.
 
The Bulldogs enter the championship as the No. 1 team in NCAA Division II, continuing a dominant season that has featured multiple team victories and consistent national recognition. Wingate will look to build on last year's championship performance, when the 'Dogs captured the SAC title with a one-over-par team score.
 
The NCAA released the penultimate Division II women's golf regional rankings for the 2026 championship season Friday. Wingate is the No. 1 team in the South Region. Spots No. 2 through No. 5 are occupied by Anderson (S.C.), Nova Southeastern, Lander and Barry (Fla.).
