Freshman Mike Baez (Huntersville, N.C.) had an impressive opening weekend for the Bulldogs, registering a pair of double-doubles as Wingate opened the year with two wins of at least 20 points.

Baez went for 21 points and 12 rebounds in his collegiate debut against Limestone, adding two assists and a block in the 86-66 victory. He had 17 points and 10 rebounds at Belmont Abbey, adding an assist and a block while going six-of-10 from the field and three-for-six from beyond the arc as Wingate prevailed 95-68.

Baez shot 53.8 percent from the field while averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds per game. He is seventh in the conference in scoring, while leading the league in rebounding.
