Wingate freshman Steve Hammond finished second in the Bulldog Stampede cross country meet Saturday, hosted by Wingate University Saturday. Hammond posted an 8K time of 27:19 in the inaugural event. The host Bulldogs won the team hardware with 40 points.

On Sept. 17, Hammond finished 10th in the sixth Annual Coastal Carolina Cross Country meet, hosted by CCU at the Quail Creek Golf Course. He ran a 6K time of 20:04.50. The Bulldogs placed fourth out of seven teams (six NCAA Division I teams and one NAIA team).
