Bulldogs tie for fourth place in 20th annual Flagler Fall Slam

St. Augustine, Fla.----The Wingate University women's golf team finished in a three-way tie for fourth place in the 20th annual Flagler Fall Slam, hosted by Flagler College at the Marsh Creek Country Club. The Bulldogs posted a 303 Tuesday to complete 36 holes at 605. Host Flagler rallied to take the team title with a 585.
 
Senior Jess Brown led the Navy Blue and Vegas Gold-clad South Atlantic Conference members, tying for 12th place with a 150. Brown shot a team-low 73 Tuesday. Seminole State sophomore Tabitha Hanely led wire-to-wire to collect medalist honors. She shot a 71 Tuesday to complete 36 holes at four-under-par 140. Fourteen teams and 78 student-athletes participated in the 20th annual Flagler Fall Slam.

Wingate/Tournament notes

- Only two strokes separated Wingate's top three finishers
- Sophomore Thalia Perez Vieco tied for 16th at 151, one shot behind Brown
- Classmate Lauren Sutcliffe tied for 19th at 152, one stroke short of Perez Vieco
- The Flagler Saints shot a tourney-low round of even-par 288 Tuesday
- Seminole State finished second at 591, six strokes behind the champions
- Nova Southeastern claimed third at 598, seven strokes up on fourth place
- Daytona State and Embry-Riddle joined the WU Bulldogs in fourth at 605
- Wingate concludes its fall season next Monday and Tuesday
- The Bulldogs will compete in the Legends Invitational in Orlando
- Rollins College hosts the event at the Orange County National golf course
