No. 9 Bulldogs return to action in Copperhead Championship this week

Wingate, N.C.----The No. 9 Wingate University men's golf team will compete in the Copperhead Championship Monday and Tuesday. The University of West Florida hosts this annual event at the Innisbrook Golf Resort, Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor.
 
Tournament host West Florida is the No. 1 team in the NCAA Division II. Wingate is making its first appearance in the Copperhead Championship since 2019, when the Bulldogs finished ninth. Wingate senior Charles Joubert ('20) finished fourth in the 2019 Copperhead Championship.

No. 9 Wingate and Skidmore win Currahee titles
 
Wingate won its first 2025-26 tournament last week, taking home the hardware in the Currahee Collegiate Invitational at the Currahee Golf Club. The Bulldogs finished 54 holes at 21-under-par 843. No. 13 USC Aiken was a distant second, 23 strokes back at two-over-par 866.
 
Sophomore All-American Brandon Skidmore won his first career individual title in a playoff. Both Skidmore and Emmanuel (Ga.) sophomore Lukas Lautrup-Nissen finished 54 holes at 12-under-par 204. Skidmore won the medalist playoff on the par-three 17th hole with a three. Lautrup-Nissen settled for a bogey four.
 
Seniors Alfie Storer and Lewis Beeden finished sixth and seventh, respectively. Storer had a two-under-par 70 Tuesday to conclude three rounds at five-under-par 211. Beeden shot an even-par 72 Tuesday, wrapping up his tournament at four-under-par 212.
