Wingate redshirt junior wide receiver Perry Floyd (Gastonia, N.C.) piled up 287 all-purpose yards with two receiving touchdowns to compliment an 89-yard kickoff return for a touchdown Saturday. Thanks to the efforts of Floyd and his teammates, the Bulldogs rallied to defeat Lenoir-Rhyne University 50-49 in South Atlantic Conference football action Saturday afternoon at Moretz Stadium.

Floyd caught six passes for 94 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned four kick-offs for 193 yards and one touchdown. The 89-yard kickoff return for pay dirt was part of Wingate’s furious second-half rally. The Bulldogs were down 42-21 (and 28-7) before making the big comeback.

Floyd is second on the Wingate team charts in receiving, posting 27 receptions for 308 yards and three TDs this year. One of the top return men in the region, Floyd has returned 13 punts for 186 yards (14.3 yards per return) and 12 kick-offs for 376 yards (31.3 yards per return) this season.
