Wingate University Athletics

Wingate University senior guard Janitsha Williams (Statesville, N.C.) posted her second double-double in as many South Atlantic Conference games, helping the Bulldogs earn a first-place tie in the league standings following a 73-59 victory over Carson-Newman University Saturday. The contest was Wingate’s only action in the last seven days.
 
Williams had 14 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and two assists in 32 minutes played. She hit seven-of-17 shots from the field. The All-SAC performer had eight points in the final five minutes of the first half as Wingate finished the opening frame with a 20-2 flurry. The Bulldogs led 42-24 at intermission.
 
Williams leads Wingate with 16.2 points per game and 16 three-point field goals. She is second on the Bulldog charts with 81 rebounds, 26 assists and 18 steals. The Statesville High School product is the only Wingate player to hit double-figure points every game this season.
