Tyler Almond struck out a career-high 12 in Wingate’s 2-1 win over Tusculum on Friday night. Almond allowed one unearned run on only three hits (all singles) in eight innings of work, while throwing 137 pitches.

Almond is 1-0 overall on the season with a 1.96 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 23 innings of work. He ranks second in the SAC in opponents’ batting average and strikeouts per nine innings, while ranking third in ERA and total strikeouts. He has allowed only 15 hits in 23 innings of work this season.
