Wingate University Athletics

At Wingate’s recent athletic awards ceremony, junior baseball outfielder Dodson McPherson won the J. Howard Williams Award for Male Athlete of the Year at Wingate University. McPherson leads the conference in six different categories; he led the Bulldogs to their first conference tournament title since 1998. McPherson and his teammates will make the school’s first NCAA tournament appearance since 2001.

 

McPherson leads the nation in hits and RBI, while ranking second in total bases, third in runs, fifth in home runs and 13th in triples and slugging percentage. With regionals on the horizon, he already ranks in the top 10 in SAC history for total bases in a season, as well as RBI in a season.
