Wingate junior wide receiver Ben Pinkard (Irmo, S.C.) was named the SAC Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 24, 2011. Pinkard earns this award for the first time in his Bulldog career.
 
Pinkard and his Wingate teammates scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to rally for a 35-31 SAC victory over Brevard College in Irwin Belk Stadium and John R. Martin Field Saturday. The contest was the league opener for the home-standing Bulldogs.

Pinkard had a crucial 49-yard punt return to set up a fourth quarter score. Earlier in the contest, Pinkard returned a kick-off 100 yards for touchdown. The 100-yard return is the longest in the SAC this season. The Erie Community College transfer also caught four passes for 34 yards, giving him 204 all-purpose yards.
