Wingate University redshirt senior linebacker Jared Seate (Charlotte, N.C.) had a game-high 14 tackles with two tackles for loss and one pass break-up as the visiting Bulldogs defeated Newberry 27-10 in South Atlantic Conference football action at Setzler Field Saturday. The Wingate defense held Newberry to 71 yards rushing. Newberry’s 10 points was the Wolves’ lowest offensive output in four years.

In recognition of his efforts, Seate was named the SAC Defensive Player of the Week. The Olympic High School product earns this distinction for the first time this season and the second time in his Bulldog career. Seate and his teammates gave head coach Joe Reich his 75th career victory and his 40th SAC triumph Saturday.
