Wingate University sophomore running back Lawrence Pittman (Charlotte, N.C.) established career-highs in rushing yards (147), carries (20) and touchdowns (two), helping the Bulldogs take a 30-16 NCAA Division II football victory over Shaw University Saturday night at Durham County Memorial Stadium.

Pittman ranks third in the SAC with 119.5 rushing yards per game. He is fifth in the league with 6.0 yards per carry and his two touchdowns. Pittman also has two catches for seven yards on the year. 

Wingate posted 409 yards of total offense, improving its record to 2-0 overall following the first-ever meeting between the Bulldogs and the SU Bears. Wingate opens the home portion of its 2015 schedule Saturday, hosting Brevard College for a 1:30 p.m. South Atlantic Conference game.
