Wingate University men’s lacrosse junior goalie Jacob Ormerod (Lake Mary, Fla.) is the USILA/Lids Team Sports Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Bulldogs to two huge victories. The AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, Ormerod led the Bulldogs to two SAC victories last week over number 15 Queens 9-8 and Catawba 10-9.
 
In the Wednesday win over Queens, Ormerod posted a career-high 22 saves as the Bulldogs overcame a five-goal first quarter deficit to defeat the 15th-ranked Royals 9-8. On Saturday, the Seminole High School product posted 21 saves in Wingate’s come-from-behind overtime triumph over Catawba. For the week, he allowed only 17 goals with an 8.44 goals against average (GAA). Ormerod’s save percentage was 71.7.
