Wingate University senior outside hitter Lauren Billo (Orland Park, Ill.) had 10 kills with a .529 hitting percentage as the Bulldogs swept the Tornados of Brevard College 3-0 in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action Tuesday night. Wingate won by scores of 25-18, 27-25 and 25-13 to improve to 12-1 overall and 7-0 in the SAC. Brevard falls to 2-10 overall and 0-7 in the conference. Wingate’s 53rd consecutive SAC win is also its 28th straight SAC road victory. Of the 53 wins, 35 of those triumphs have been sweeps.

On the season, Billo is hitting .281 for the four-time defending SAC champions. On Friday, Sept. 24, Billo had an incredible night as she accumulated 14 kills on 17 swings. The 2009 honorable mention All-American did not have an error in her three sets of action, hitting .824 on the night. In 2009, Billo was a first team All-SAC and All-Region selection. She led the SAC with a .317 hitting percentage. Billo ranked second in the league with 3.52 kills per set.
